The value of shared commitment: ICA Group renews its adherence to the UN Global Compact
At ICA Group we have taken another step to consolidate our responsible DNA. For another year, we are delighted to announce that we have renewed our membership in the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative.
What does it mean to be part of the United Nations?
Being part of the Global Compact is not just a stamp; it is a active commitment to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each year, our company ratifies its commitment by submitting a detailed form and a letter of ratification where we confirm that our operations remain aligned with the principles of human rights, labour, environment and the fight against corruption.
Beyond the stamp: Our environmental engagement network
For ICA Grupo, sustainability is not just for show. Our environmental strategy is cross-cutting and is supported by key certifications and associations that guarantee our technical rigour:
- ISO 14001 and Carbon FootprintWe are registered for the Catalonia Office for Climate Change. This contractually obliges us to calculate our carbon footprint annually and, more importantly, to present improvement plans to reduce it year on year.
- Avant-garde AssociationsWe are part of the ACI (Association of Building Services Consultants) and of AEDICI (Spanish Association of Engineering and Installation Consultancies). These alliances allow us to stay up-to-date with European regulations and efficient technologies.
Why is this step important?
It is often thought that large corporations are the only ones who should lead change, but the reality is different. At ICA Grupo, we believe that the role of SMEs is fundamental for several reasons:
Differentiation and Leadership: There are very few SMEs in our sector that are part of the ACI, the AEDICI or Global Compact. This shows that, despite being an agile structure, our technical and ethical capabilities compete at the highest level.
Direct Impact As a company that manage projects from start to finish (from architecture to legalisation), we have the opportunity to advise our clients on energy efficiency and consumption audits.
Transparency To be subject to regulations such as ISO 9001 (quality) and the ISO 14001 (environment) guarantees our customers that every technical process meets European standards of excellence. As part of this environmental certification, we have integrated specific measures into our daily operations to reduce our impact, such as incorporating electric vehicles to minimise emissions during technical travel, a responsible waste management which guarantees the legal traceability of each waste, and a system of Active recycling in our offices which encourages a circular economy and raises awareness among our entire team.
Ultimately, adherence to the UN Global Compact is a promise for the future: the promise that we will continue to build and develop spaces that are not only functional and aesthetically pleasing, but also respectful of the planet we inhabit.
